Syn57: MRC LMB Team Led by Constructive Bio's Jason Chin Creates E. coli with 57-Codon Synthetic Genome

The New York Times reported on the creation of Syn57, an E. coli strain engineered to function with just 57 codons instead of the standard 64. The research, led by Professor Jason Chin's team at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, involved over 100,000 changes to the genome and builds on the Syn61 work that underpins Constructive Bio's platform.
