Cambridge iGEM 2025 Team Visits Constructive Bio's Recodery for Synthetic Biology Discussion

Constructive Bio hosted the Cambridge iGEM 2025 team at The Recodery for a technical discussion on synthetic biology research, as part of ongoing engagement with emerging researchers in genome engineering.

Constructive Bio welcomed the Cambridge iGEM 2025 team to The Recodery for a technical discussion on their work in synthetic biology. The visit formed part of our ongoing engagement with emerging researchers who are developing practical solutions to global biological and environmental challenges

During their visit, the Cambridge team presented CamiRa, an affordable, portable microRNA-based crop diagnostic. Their system is designed to help smallholder farmers detect nutrient deficiencies before visible symptoms appear, enabling earlier intervention, reduced fertiliser overuse and improved crop outcomes. By combining simplified extraction, paper-based detection and smartphone-enabled readout, the project aims to make molecular diagnostics accessible outside traditional laboratory settings.

We were pleased to host the team and learn about their approach as they continue developing CamiRa for the 2025 competition season.
