Constructive Bio appoints biopharma leader Jim Weissman to its Board of Directors

Jim joins Constructive Bio as the company advances the application of its platform across pharmaceutical manufacturing and discovery. The company combines whole‑genome writing and engineered translation to produce therapeutics with chemistries that natural biology cannot access. Its platform provides new ways to design and manufacture complex therapeutics at a time when the pharmaceutical industry is looking for new and innovative approaches to meet growing demand.

Jim brings more than two decades of experience in scaling biotechnology platforms and building meaningful industry partnerships. He currently serves as Principal of JBW Consulting, where he advises biopharmaceutical companies on strategy and corporate development, and is an independent director at Cerberus Therapeutics, EnPlusOne Biosciences and Telesis Bio. Previously, he spent more than a decade at Dicerna Pharmaceuticals, including as EVP, COO and CBO, where he helped expand its RNAi platform into a broad pipeline and establish multiple major pharma collaborations, generating more than $1 billion in deal value ahead of its $3.3 billion acquisition by Novo Nordisk. He also supported the company’s 2014 IPO.

Constructive Bio is applying its platform to address constraints in therapeutic development and manufacturing, including delivering more sustainable routes to produce complex therapeutics such as GLP‑1s, where conventional processes are solvent‑intensive and generate significant waste.

Jim joins an experienced board that includes Sir Gregory Winter, 2018 Nobel Laureate, whose groundbreaking work transformed the discovery and manufacturing of therapeutic antibodies and helped shape modern medicines.
